Architect Visit: Ode Lab in Merida, Mexico

New York–based architect Tim Koelle of Ode Lab recently overhauled a modest 1950s stucco courtyard house in downtown Merida, Mexico; the color scheme and simple geometry were inspired by the work of Mexican architect Luis Barragan. Koelle reused the original colonial doors and shutters from the house and commissioned local craftspeople to create furniture using regional sustainable woods.
