Maybe it’s because I recently saw Minions: The Rise of Gru (thanks to one oppressive heat wave and one persistent kid), but ceramicist Lisa Viscardi‘s birdhouses look alive to me, like one-eyed creatures ready to delight. Bulbous, imperfect, sometimes bearing a pair of wings (or arms, depending on how you see them), her hand-built creations are at once chic and playful.
Have a look.

![This one reminds me of a little baby bird with its mouth wide open, ready for a worm. It also reminds me of Stuart the Minion. It\2\17;s \$550 at Commune.](https://media.gardenista.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/lisa-viscardi-birdhouse-commune-design-shop-3-copy-733x489.jpg)
