Our judges have chosen the finalists in all eight categories of our 2017 Considered Design Awards. In the six categories open to projects in the US and Canada, your vote will choose the winners. Be sure to vote once per day, now through August 4, on both Gardenista and Remodelista.
The winners of our two United Kingdom categories will be chosen by our judges and announced on August 7. Browse below to see the five finalist projects in the best Professional UK Landscape category.
Marigold Cottage Project
Above: Creative Landscapes submitted Marigold Cottage garden in the rural village of Thursley, England, which was chosen as a finalist by Gardenista editor Michelle Slatalla, who said of the project: “A contemporary planting palette and gravel paving show just how modern an English cottage can be.” Photograph by Maayke de Ridder.
Walled Pennine Garden Project
Above: South Pennine Walling submitted the Walled Pennine Garden in Hood Green, England, picked by guest judge Rita Konig: “I love the combination of the drystone walling and the planting. The choice of plants is so gentle and the colors are so pretty against the color and strength of the stone. I love it.”
An African-Inspired Garden Project
Above: Studio 29 Architects entered An African-Inspired Garden in Holland Park, a London project chosen by Rita Konig: “I think this is a really good use of a small space and I love the wall painted in that pretty color. This is really an extension of the room that leads onto it and I think that is a great way to approach a small city garden. I love the planting, too.” Photograph by Andrew Beasley.
Above: Harris Bugg Studio submitted this Royal Bank of Canada Garden at the RHS Chelsea 2017 show in London, chosen by Rita Konig: “I think the planting choices here are very smart, particularly with the hardscaping. I love how it all works together; I think it is a really beautiful tableau.” Photograph by Marianne Majerus.
Don’t forget to vote once per day in the non-UK contest categories on both Gardenista and Remodelista, now through August 4.
