Gunn Landscape Architecture is a landscape architecture practice based in New York City and the Hamptons, with an extensive portfolio in high end residential projects and select commercial and public work throughout the United States. Founded by Alec Gunn in 2000, the firm’s body of work ranges in scale and program from classic Upper East Side balconies and contemporary downtown rooftops, to multi-acre estates in Connecticut and the Hamptons.

Through creative collaborative efforts with clients, architects, interior designers and consultants, we strive to create contemporary yet enduring landscapes that address the inherent qualities and requirements of a particular site. Though our aesthetic leans toward the modern, our design solutions draw from a wide range of historical influences–whether it be the classic lines of historical French and Italian gardens, the horticultural sensibility of English gardens or elegant restraint of Japanese gardens–to create spaces that invite rather than dictate. As a firm, we follow an ethic of sustainability, sourcing local building materials and emphasizing native and diverse planting material whenever possible.

Projects in progress include One Jackson Square penthouse terraces, a historic townhouse’s private garden, and master plans for Connecticut and Bridgehampton estates.
