If you're headed to the beach this summer, consider collecting razor-clam shells to make this easy, chic pendant light. Read on for a list of materials and step-by-step instructions.

Materials:  1. Clean razor clam shells 2. Small rotary drill 3. A work surface 3. A pendant fixture 4. Light wire 5. Clippers

For pure white shells, arrange them in a sunny spot and let the sun bleach them.

1. Lay out your supplies

2. Use a diamond-point bit to drill through the shells

Make sure your shells are all facing the same way as you drill.

3. Cut a 2-foot section of wire and thread it through the holes.

Make sure all the shells are facing the same direction.

For a double-layered lamp, string 2 sets of shells.

4. Evenly spread the strands of shells, and wrap the first layer around the light, twisting the ends to secure.

For a double-layered pendent, fasten the second layer so it sits slightly higher than the first.
