A whisper of dark rosy pink swirls around the edges of each generously sized white bloom of this compact Calla. Just plain lovely against a background of green leaves.
This South African genus includes just 6 species of rhizomatous perennials. Although commonly called Calla Lilies, they are neither Callas (which belong to a separate genus in the same family) nor Lilies. Calla Lilies are hardly new to cultivation—their discovery by Western Europeans dates to the late 17th century. Callas flourish in full sun or part shade in well-drained soil.
