The three young founders of Rhoeco, a new line of organic herbal teas from Greece, would like you to enjoy their organic herbal infusions—and to grow some of the ingredients yourself, too.
Harry Kazas, Katerina Chatziangelaki, and Vaya Mitsiou met as agricultural science students at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. They all went on to the UK for post-grad studies in organic food production systems, among other subjects, where they brainstormed about ways to return home and put their knowledge to work. Which explains why their Thessaloniki-based company is about more than just a good cup of tea. Take a look at what they came up with.

All ingredients are grown in Greece: the company works with a number of small family-owned organic farms. “We promote our natural heritage by choosing among an abundance of indigenous herbal species,” write the owners. “We use environmentally responsible cultivation methods. And we ensure fairness at all levels for everyone involved. This is how we understand life.”
Rhoeco’s great-looking package design and website is the work of Athens studio We Design.
The seed stick mixes were selected for success: “The reason we didn’t include all the 17 herb species we use in our blends is that they don’t all have the same sprouting ability,” Katerina tells us,
“and we wanted people to have the best possible results. So far, we’ve managed to germinate three different species from one stick.”
