Botanical Hardcover – September 4, 2018

Samuel Zeller (Author), Rachel Segal-Hamilton (Introduction)

Swiss photographer Samuel Zeller reveals the quietness and serenity found in some of Europe’s greenest, manmade corners.

Starting his project in Geneva’s botanical gardens, Zeller shoots plants through translucent glass, exploring how the shapes and refractions create a blurred beauty reminiscent of impressionist paintings.

Using the same technique across Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels and beyond, the photographer draws on classical botanical illustrations from the 19th century to illustrate nature in a contemporary and unusual way.

Samuel Zeller is a freelance and fine art photographer based in Geneva, Switzerland. His work reflects a lifelong love of art, influenced by his parents, both artists, as well as formal studies and a previous career in graphic and interior design. He now pursues personal projects as well as commercial photography and operates Fujifeed, an online community for Fujifilm photographers.
