Design Sleuth: French Garden Mirrors

Issue · · September 10, 2012

Spotted in the small Paris garden of architect Nicolas Soulier and ceramicist Cécile Daladier, zinc mirror ponds and wall mirrors to reflect light and create the illusion of more space:

Above: Ms. Daladier worked for a decade to perfect the design of her capteurs—water collectors—made of steel, copper, or bronze frames. They hold a shallow pond of water and reflect the sky. For more information, see Assaï, which showcases the couple's collaborative products.

Above: The water collectors capture and enhance several natural elements: wind, sunlight, and rain.

Above: An exhibit of capteurs, and a jardins mirror (R). For more, see "A Ceramicist and an Architect in Paris."
