Marcel Breuer, Serge Chermayeff, Walter Gropius, and Eero Saarinan all built houses on outer Cape Cod in the fifties and sixties. Painter James Lechay (1907–2001) moved in the same rarefied, intellect-heavy circles; his house, designed by Hayden Walling, remains one of the best examples of modest Bauhaus architecture in town. It’s also for rent seasonally; go to We Need a Vacation for information.

Leshay in his studio; go to AAAI to read more about him and his work (his paintings can be glimpsed in the above photo).
